    Kamat Residents Embraced The Opportunity To Participate In Community Service With Habema

    PAPUA - One of the military units under the command of the Indonesian Armed Forces Operational Command HABEMA, the Task Forces of the Para Raider Infantry Battalion 501/Bajra Yudha Kostrad, is currently conducting mobile security at the border of Indonesia and Papua New Guinea, especially in Maybrat Regency, Papua Barat Daya Province. On Wednesday, 11 September 2024.

    The residents of Kamat Village, Aifat Timur Tengah District, with the soldiers of the 501 Task Forces, engaged in community service. This service is to implement the Social Communication (Komsos) activity with Community Figures, along with the Leader and Staff of the Church at the Kamat Village, in conducting fogging the church. This fogging activity is vital in maintaining environmental health, especially in killing Malaria and Dengue Fever mosquitoes.

    Underlining the Soldiers' role, the Commander of the 501 Task Forces, Lieutenant Colonel Yakhya Wisnu Arianto, underscored the importance of the Task Forces’ focus on the community's fundamental needs around the Post. Therefore, the soldiers of Kamat Post, led by Second Lieutenant Puji Handoko, conducted Social Communication with Community Figures, along with the Leader and Staff of the Church at the Kamat Village, about the plan of fogging the church. After discussion, they agreed that the cleaning time would be Tuesday (3/9) at the Church.

    As preparations began, a palpable sense of unity and shared responsibility filled the air. The active participation of Kamat community members and the Soldiers on duty in Papua was a testament to their enthusiasm and engagement. The fogging covered the whole area of the church, its yard, and the environment surrounding it. After the activity, Mr. Matius Waymbewer, one of the Community Figures, said, "Thank you, Commander 501, the church is free of mosquitoes right now. God bless you". This sense of unity and shared responsibility, coupled with the community's enthusiasm and engagement, makes everyone, from the Task Forces to the Kamat community, feel included and part of the collective effort.

    Upon receiving the activity report, the HABEMA Commanding General, Brigadier General Lucky Avianto, commended the 501 Task Forces’ initiative to conduct the fogging of a church with Kamat residents. His words: "The 501 Task Forces' initiative is a testament to TNI's commitment to conduct inclusive Social Communication to support the acceleration of development in the Papua region." This recognition from the highest authority in HABEMA is not just a commendation but a testament to the significant impact of such initiatives on the region's development. It instills profound hope and optimism about their potential to shape the region's future positively. It makes the Task Forces and the community feel recognized, valued, and respected for their efforts. It gives everyone a sense of hope and optimism about the region's future development.
